First Pay

Hey! Apologies if this has already been discussed, I can’t find a solid answer anywhere. I start my two week induction in just over two weeks time (19/04). Is it likely that I’ll be paid for my time at the end of April, or will I receive the full pay at the end of May? The jobs I’ve had in the past ...

Re: Start Date

Yeah I guess so, it’s certainly South for me! Not as far down as London, though.

Re: Start Date

Hey Fareham,

I dunno if this helps but my start date is 19/04 too (induction at my home prison) but my POELT start date is 10/05. Maybe this is the same for you?

Re: Face to face ARC day expenses

They took ages to send the form to me, I had to ring a few times to get that sorted. I got the money back about a month after I sent the form off, as I missed the end of month cut-off period

Re: Face to face ARC day expenses

Just a heads up Bearguy, I was told (after I’d done the arc) that taxi fares weren’t included in the expenses. I was refunded the £70 train journey but not my £20 taxis! Sent a salty email back as obviously I wasn’t made aware of this but they weren’t very helpful. Still fuming about it nearly 4 mon...

Re: POELT Whitemoor 10/05

Oh wow I’m Birmingham too! Have you been confirmed residential? I got an email on Monday night telling me Lewes was cancelled and I’m going to Whitemoor instead. It was a super badly worded email and at the end it said “accommodation will need to be provided by the establishment for you to attend th...

Re: POELT Whitemoor 10/05

Hey! I was beginning to think I was the only one 😂
I’m desperately trying to get in touch with SSCL because they were so vague with the arrangements about accommodation. Are you residential as well? The prison I’ll be working at is in the Midlands.

Re: The call

Congratulations!! It looks like you’ve passed vetting 😀 I had the same message on my portal at the end of Feb. In the end I never received the call, the contact came via e-mail instead just over a week later. I know everyone waits for a different amount of time but yeah, it was 10 days for me and th...

POELT Whitemoor 10/05

Hey guys! Last week I finally got the call and was offered POELT in Lewes (a million miles away from where I live) and accepted. Last night I received an email telling me that the Lewes course has been cancelled and I’ve been put on the course at Whitemoor (slightly closer but still not great) to st...

Re: Vetting Process

Congratulations on your start date chickenwing! If it’s quite a journey to were your training will be are they providing you with transport like a hire car and accommodation ? How’s that working? Just curious as I think my vetting is nearly completed and my fitness test Thursday so I’m hopefully ne...

Re: Vetting Process

Yeah, I got my email at 9pm last night! Scheduled a call for later this afternoon to get everything verified 😊 I’ve been checking emails every 15 mins for over a week, funnily enough I hadn’t checked for an hour because I was trying to distract myself for the first time and that’s when it came thro...

Re: Vetting Process

I’m getting SO impatient. Checked my portal last Monday (22/02) and saw the message saying they’ll be in touch shortly, which means my vetting was completed in less than 5 weeks! Still waiting for the call/email. Just want it to be over so I can put my phone back on silent mode and stop refreshing ...
