It's against the rules, and unprofessional and a possible risk to your personal safety. However officers have done it for years and will continue to do it in pubs local to Prisons. Yes still have a baton, pava and rigid bar Cuffs are not currently taught on POELT, you will be put on a course once back at establishment.

Yes some have them, others are getting them. I know HMP Manchester is going through roll out with so's now having and every one else should get after annual refresher training.. I'm at a cat c who have had cuffs and pava for a couple of years

Speak to your training team, however it is in writing that no leave to be taken during POELT course, however most of the trainer's will sort something. Speak to people Hub at your home establishment, they will advise in travel and either provide you with a hire car, train tickets or cover your fuel (need business use on your own insurance policy for this).
