Re: Merit List

Hello there, I passed my ARC in July, was added to the merit list shortly after as the prison had recruited their requirement, I got got an email offering me a position in September, and a phone call with a start date for January. Just a waiting game, nothing you can do, it will come totally out of ...

Tunic

Question to any of the longer serving prison officer members on here.... Does the service issue tunics/formal attire ? My father was an officer since the early nineties, at his funeral a couple of years back, all his older colleagues were in parade quality attire for his send off. As a child I remem...

Re: GET REGISTERED!

When I attended the ARC assessment day, the instructor told us that vetting usually takes 12 weeks, it’s rare that it is any less.....well it happened with me ! Less than a month to have passed vetting and be offered a place, I was shocked when I received the call, so it does happen !! Could be a ca...

Re: Newbold Revel 2020. HMP Stocken.

Doesn’t sound too good Jono, I agree that there should be qualification related rewards in regards training to be a prison officer, but shouldn’t have to jump through a million hoops to get it !

Re: Blue Light Card

I cannot remember exactly how I found it, I think it would have one of the hundreds of times I was looking on the internet for any scrap of information about being a prison officer :slbg: !!! I remember seeing a sign up in Starbucks that emergency services and NHS staff get money off. Anyone know of...

Blue Light Card

Evening all !

Anyone got a blue light card ? Any major benefits to it ??

Also, our local major theatre in the north east have a deal where prison officers get 2 for 1 tickets on selected shows, which would save a few quid as it’s a fortune to start with !

Re: Expenses on POELT

Great information that mate ! I would be using rail and coach transport to get home at the end of each week so glad I can claim that back, saves a wedge !!! I’m at Lilleshall, meals are included with the onsite digs, however having the appetite I do, I won’t be solely relying on this food :slbg: !!

Expenses on POELT

Evening all !

I will be starting POELT in the new year, on residential, they mentioned on the phone about claiming back expenses, what I didn’t ask was that would I be able to claim back train/coach fares to and from home every weekend ?
