I’ve just finished this book and only just seen the trailer for the film. Got to say I enjoyed them both. No, it’s probably not a good imagine for the service or a 100% accurate representation of the job but the book wasentertaining and worth a read

it should be noted its like porridge on a good day. bad days its a bit more like an american movie.

the book sounds like it was written more by a con then an officer :slgy:

Having read the introduction, I feel no great desire to continue. Sounds like someone with a grudge, who contradicts himself in his intro. Doesn't like bullies, yet says he has given people a slap! I think he may have issues he needs to work through.
Having spent 25 years in the service, I agree that Porridge is probably the most accurate portrayal of life in prison.
I know of current challenges, and lack of staff, but the one thing that gets you through the day is good inter personal skills, and they don't come from bullying prisoners. You need to develop good relationships, be friendly, but not a friend, and be straight!

The film has succeeded in coming to market because of that. Got to keep up appearances for the media. Can't have people 'not scared' to come to jail. Can't have them thinking that Officers aren't the scum of the earth.

Typical prison movie based on the diary of an idiot.Still he made a few quid out of it. It passed the time on a bedwatch many years ago .Why are the screws wearing old jumpers and blue shirts. Is Norman Stanley Fletcher going to pop up carrying his slop out pot ? :slbg:

There's a trailer on their site: http://www.facebook.com/ScrewedMovie
I don't remember much of what is in this trailer as being in the book! :slwott:

Also, I know quite a few people that worked with "Ronnie Thompson" and he did exaggerate a lot of things in the book. He even said it himself in an interview on BBC a few months back.

Oh, and Green Street 2 is probably one of the worst movies ever. I had to turn it off after 30 min, it was so dire........... :slvo:

I watched the Trailer on YouTube, it looks complete crap to me, I didn't recognise much in the trailer from the book so you can bet this is gonna be some fantasy rubbish like Green street 2!
